Welcome to FRED'S FARM home page.

We are a small Norwegian based voluntary project working to empower a local community in Nyamagabe district in Southern Rwanda.

Our project is built on reciprocal respect and trust, acting justly and caring for both people and the environment.

Support project

After the Rwandan genocide in 1994, Fred Kasigwa was the only survivor in his family and inherited his grandfather's farm. Due to the situation in the country, it was not possible for him to return to the farm. In 2009 Fred felt safe enough and had the strength to start developing the farm area into something for the common good of the whole population in the area. This also  meant helping those who had been involved in the massacre of his own family. In 2013 Fred invited  Norwegian friends to support him and " FRED'S FARM" became a reality.

Fred Kasigwa died unexpectedly in May 2022.
Fred worked tirelessly for the past 27 years to empower the most vulnerable.
FRED's FARM was an important part of this work for the last 9 years. Fred's son Ferdinant will follow Fred's vision and FRED'S FARM project will continue as before to support and empower the local population.
