ECONOMY

We are a low cost project. All the Norwegians work on a voluntary basis, incurring no cost to the project.

ANNUAL BUDGET 2022

Total kr 150 000 Norwegian crowns

This covers :
Salaries on the farm and health insurance for permanent employees.
Running cost of the farm; coffee and macadamia, animals, maintenance, improvements, tools etc.,
Support to TWA; school, medicine, seeds.
Support to School; solar lamp library, plants.
Plant projects; seeds, plants, extra manpower.

Income:
  1. Donations from private individuals.
  2. Sale of coffee samples to friends.

In 3-5 years we hope to cover some of our costs by:
  • sale of coffee cherries from FRED'S FARM.
  • sale of macadamia nuts from FRED'S FARM.

Exit strategy
In 10 years time we hope FRED'S FARM can be self-financed through selling products from FRED'S FARM, and that the organization is run only by Rwandans.

Health Safety Environment (HSE)

HSE is considered in all aspects of planning, and running of activities.

Health
Some food is grown so our daily and weekly workers get some nourishment while at work. On the farm we have good hand washing routines. A First Aid Kit is on the farm and Jacques has got basic training in using it, and other aspects of first aid.
All workers get an introduction to safe work routines.

Safety
Protective equipment is available and used as needed; protective gloves, heavy duty protective clothing, goggles,
All permanent workers use wellington boots with wool socks to protect their feet.
We ensure that work is done in a safe manner. Every day there is a meeting with all workers where HSE is a topic.

Environment
In all our activities we consider environmental aspects. We not only try to protect but also look for ways to improve the environment. Organic farming principles are used on the farm, so no harmful pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used. This is also good for health and safety.
